Daylight Savings Time Changes
Starting in the spring of 2007, daylight saving time (DST) start and end dates for the United States will transition to comply with the Energy Policy Act of 2005. DST dates in the United States will start three weeks earlier, at 2:00 A.M. on the second Sunday in March (March 11, 2007). DST will end one week later, at 2:00 A.M. on the first Sunday in November (November 4, 2007).
General Impacts: This change can impact computer systems and applications, therefore impacting your business or organization. In most cases, applications rely on the time stamp provided by the hardware/operating system they reside on. Therefore, if the underlying platform reports the correct time, the applications will not be impacted.
Impact to SEI Services: The Superior Endeavors' (SEI) servers you rely on for your e-mail, web hosting, and other ASP services have been fully updated to automatically change their time on the new DST dates. In the cases where SEI is providing support for your networks, the correct updates have been also applied to your PC's and servers.
In spite of these proactive steps, you may still experience some inconsistencies in calendar item times in Microsoft Outlook. For example, meetings already scheduled on your calendar for the period between March 11, 2007 and April 1, 2007 may shift forward by one hour after March 11, 2007. The simplest approach to correct this is to note the correct time in the "Subject:" field for meetings scheduled during this three week period. That will provide a reference for you to quickly check the correct time and adjust the meeting time after March 11, 2007.
